The symbol of kindness, love and care,
tenderness and affection- you taught me to share...
My pillar of support, my full source inspiration.
That's my mother, my friend, my illumination...
A mother is one, who in a family of five,
on seeing four pieces of pie, happily announces, I never cared for a pie...
She would hold me when I used to fall,
She would run after me when I used to crawl...
She awakened the angel in me
and the devil inside was told to flee.
Her presence, her smile completed my domain,
I could not even think of letting things go in vain...
And then that day, things began to fall apart
When ma told me, soon she would have to depart.
I was shattered, tattered, doomed and torn
I felt as if out of the world, I was thrown.
She had just one short month to stay
And I knew God would not move even if I pray.
I watched her grow weak with every passing day
I looked above at dad who left us that May.
No one could sense my pain and despair
I drank my tears as long as she was there...
And today, when the bird stopped its song,
I understood today's the day thats going to be so long.
Now, as my ten year old hand puts the last petal of rose,
only my broken heart knows how painful are the blows...
I have nowhere to run, nowhere to hide
I have no one with me, no one by my side...
Today, ma, when I look at you above, I spot a lonely star
it faintly smiles at me and tells me that you have gone very far...
truly touching poem..
